Entry LOG\001 in the AFAIK world series. This is a visual experiment where the audience is experiencing the desolation that's Earth and how the La'cie is the only one able to stop it. No matter the price. This is how it started.
Insight
The exploration of look and field on this 1st entry was focused on a limit of colors and heavy emphasis on shadows. The goal was to get some sense of scale without giving away all the details for the overall shape of the ship and relationship to the main character.
Gadgets
This first log entry I tried to understand how the technology would work. Being attached to the wrist as a way to express the functional aspect of the model purpose was a good start on the exploration facet.
Machine vs Idea
In the beginning, the color palette was important to showcase the feelings within the individual as ways to explore the world-building process. Particles were used to exemplify this aspect of the design. Also. I had to think about the aesthetic of the Knowlege recollection. But it was later discarded due to its ominous-looking attachment.
Aris \ Main character
In this world, people have become different levels of cyborg and shapeshifter within societies. The only ones with some type of limitations due to its genetic information are the explores. Therefore, for the Aris concept development, it needed to be ambiguous enough to be passable as a part of the universe without defining the look of the character.
Prop
As a quick way to raise the main character as a 'hero', I added her faces in certain props to familiarize myself with the aesthetics.
"ARIS WILL BECOME THE DEFINER OF WHAT I MEANS TO BE HUMAN"
"AMBIGUOUS AESTHETICS ARE NECESSARY AT THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY AS YOU ARE STILL DEFINING THE CHARACTERS MOTIVES"
CHAMBER \ LEVEL 1.2
As the world-building process continuous the next step was evolving the AI of the mothership into a humanoid style to keep the relationship with the audience.
